Josh Kennedy and Harry Kewell scored second-half goals as Australia beat Uzbekistan 2-0 on Wednesday to move within one point of securing a World Cup spot.
The Australians needed a draw between Bahrain and Qatar in the later Group A match to be the first team to advance from Asian qualifying to South Africa 2010.
