Arsenal midfielder Wilshere has procedure on troublesome ankle
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has had more surgery on his left ankle, delaying his comeback after three months out because of injury.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger says Wilshere underwent the operation that was planned for the end of the season because his ankle was causing him discomfort, adding it was a ''minor procedure.''
Wilshere had recently returned to the squad after ankle surgery following an injury against Manchester United on Nov. 22.
Wilshere will miss Sunday's Premier League match against Everton but Wenger expects the England international's absence to be short.
"Jack has had surgery to take two screws off his ankle because they were irritating him but it's a very minor procedure - he'll be out for a few days.
"It was irritating his ankle so they had to take them off. It was planned to be done at the end of the season but because he had an irritation we decided to do it now," he said.
"If he was back for next weekend it would be quick - but it's days not weeks."
