Lionel Messi scored one goal and missed a penalty kick as Argentina beat Germany 3-1 in an exhibition Wednesday night, a rematch of the Germans' 4-0 win in the 2010 World Cup quarterfinals.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved Messi's weak penalty kick just after the 20-year-old replaced Ron-Robert Zieler, who brought down Jose Sosa in the 30th minute and became Germany's first goalkeeper to be ejected in an international match.
Semi Khedira deflected Angel di Maria's corner kick into his own net for an own-goal in first-half injury time, and Messi scored in the 52nd minute, his 27th international goal.
Di Maria made it 3-0 with an impressive long-range goal in the 73rd. Defender Benedikt Hoewedes scored for Germany on a header in the 82nd minute.
