APOEL Nicosia has been crowned Cyprus champion for the 22nd time in its 86-year history.
Omonia Nicosia's 4-0 thrashing of Anorthosis Famagusta gave the title Sunday to last year's Champions League quarterfinalist.
The win lifted Omonia into second place in the standings but APOEL leads by an unassailable seven points with two rounds remaining.
APOEL could've taken the title on Saturday with a win against AEK Larnaca but lost 1-0 due to a lackluster performance.

The Nicosia club's consistency and miserly defensive record were instrumental in winning the title, having scored 57 goals and conceding only 14 times in its 22 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses so far this season.
This is Serb coach Ivan Jovanovic's fourth title with APOEL.
