FIFA executive committee member Jacques Anouma has denied corruption allegations against him from the World Cup bidding scandal, calling them ''false and malicious.''

The Confederation of African Football released a statement on Thursday quoting Ivory Coast's federation president as saying he ''strongly refutes'' accusations he took money to vote for Qatar's successful bid to host the 2022 World Cup.

CAF adds that Anouma ''is welcoming an inquiry'' from FIFA ''to establish the truth of the matter'' and reserves the right to take legal action.

On Wednesday, CAF President Issa Hayatou also denied corruption allegations. The pair were accused by a British newspaper of taking $1.5 million from Qatar.
