Fiorentina has signed former AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini to a one-year contract.
The Tuscan club made the announcement Thursday after Milan decided not to renew Ambrosini's contract last month.
Financial details were not disclosed.
A midfielder, the 36-year-old Ambrosini had been Milan's captain since Paolo Maldini retired in 2009. He spent 17 seasons with Milan, winning four Serie A titles and two Champions League trophies.
Ambrosini has also made 35 appearances for Italy's national team.
Fiorentina finished fourth in Serie A last season, two points behind Milan.
