Real Madrid may have to start the season without recent signing Hamit Altintop since the Turkey international is scheduled to have back surgery.
Madrid says Altintop will undergo the operation on Monday in Germany after pain in his lower back failed to improve despite treatment.
Altintop joined Madrid from Bayern Munich at the close of the season, agreeing to a four-year deal.
