Port Vale manager Micky Adams is casting his eye over former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean McAllister.
McAllister, who came through the ranks at Wednesday before leaving Hillsborough to join Shrewsbury in 2010, played and scored for Vale's reserve team in a 4-0 win over Wrexham on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old is a free agent after being released by the Shrews in the summer.
Adams is currently short of central midfield options, with captain Doug Loft and Ryan Burge out injured, Sam Morsy suspended and Darren Murphy short of match practice.
