Activists protesting against Champions League sponsor Gazprom have abseiled from the stadium roof and forced the Basel vs Schalke match to be briefly suspended.
UEFA says in a statement the incident ''will be notified'' in reports of match officials regarding ''the potential opening of disciplinary proceedings.''
Basel faces UEFA action because host clubs are responsible for security at stadiums and ensuring matches run smoothly.
The activists, apparently supporting environmental group Greenpeace, unfurled a banner which read ''Gazprom. Don't Foul The Arctic.''
The Russian gas supplier is a main sponsor of the Champions League and German club Schalke.
The match soon resumed and additional time was played at the end of the first half.
