ARLINGTON, Texas -- A 75-degree day and an early arriving crowd made for an exciting time Friday at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. A 3-2 Rangers victory on Opening Day never hurts, either.
Michael Young, who drove in the winning run during the sixth inning, was asked about the Opening Day crowd following the victory over the White Sox.
"Our crowd's starting to spoil us a little bit," Young said. "They're coming out strong every time we play. When we have a packed house, it's the loudest ballpark I've ever been in.
"It was a good atmosphere today."
Young broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth on a single that scored Josh Hamilton. Colby Lewis went six strong innings, striking out nine, Ian Kinsler scored twice and the Rangers' bullpen seemed to be in playoff-form, allowing only one hit during the final three innings.
"Opening Day you're usually going to face a good guy and we did today," Young said. "[John] Danks threw well, Colby threw really well. Fortunately, we pushed one extra one across."
