"Rowdy" Roddy Piper was a tremendous talent. And it wasn't only in the ring.

The WWE Hall of Famer, who died Thursday night at the age of 61 in Hollywood, Calif., was a marvel at the microphone.

Here are some of his greatest performances, while in the ring and out of it.

The first is the legendary "Piper's Pit" segment with Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka.

Piper with Bob Orton as Hulk Hogan interrupts their boxing banter.

With the legendary Bruno Sammartino in Madison Square Garden in 1985.

An encounter with Andre the Giant.

A match with "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff on "Saturday Night's Main Event."

The iconic WrestleMania 1 main event.

And, the good old days . . . Georgia Championship Wrestling.

Sadly, last week Piper appeared on "The Rich Eisen Show" in an odd-sounding interview. That was his final appearance.
