Williams to miss time with sprained toe
The Clippers' search for continuity took another blow with news that high-scoring guard Mo Williams would miss some time with a sprained toe.
Without Williams' scoring punch on the bench, coach Vinny Del Negro shuffled his lineup again, moving Nick Young to the bench and starting Randy Foye.
"We'll try to get him (Young) a little more comfortable. With Mo being out, we need a little more spark off the bench," Del Negro said. "Nick is a guy we can run some plays for like we did with Mo, and we'll see if we can get him going a little bit."
Young, who has been shooting only 36 percent since being traded to the Clippers, responded with a 16-point game Saturday.
Young admitted that he may be pressing.
"I'm trying really hard to make every shot, especially being on a new team," Young said. "I'm putting more pressure on myself than normal."
NOTES, QUOTES
Del Negro's still the coach -- for now
--Rumors swirled that the Clippers were contemplating a change at coach after the team's three-game losing streak last week. But Vinny Del Negro walked into his pregame press conference Saturday with a smile on his face and a job to do.
"Amazing, isn't it?" Del Negro joked about still being the team's coach.
Complaints that Del Negro had lost the locker room surfaced last week, and after three less-than-stellar performances, some wondered if a change needed to be made.
Del Negro said he talked to general manager Neil Olshey about his job security, but neither would detail the nature of the conversation.
"It's aggravating, but it's part of the job," Del Negro said. "We're not playing well, and I'm the head coach."
--The Clippers re-signed Bobby Simmons on Saturday for the rest of the season. Simmons rewarded the team by hitting a buzzer-beating three to end the first quarter.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I told Randy (Foye) that it feels good to be up 20 in the fourth and sitting on the bench." -- Clippers forward Blake Griffin on the team's one-sided win Saturday over Memphis.
