Williams, Rodgers earn All-America distinction
TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State pitcher Trevor Williams was a second-team selection and teammate Brady Rodgers was a third-team selection on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America team.
Williams, a sophomore from San Diego, tied for the Division I regular-season lead with 12 victories. He had a 2.05 ERA in 109.2 innings with 59 strikeouts and 13 walks.
Rodgers, a junior from Richmond, Texas, was 10-3 with a 2.27 ERA and has a 2.39 career ERA over three seasons, second in ASU history to Floyd Bannister's 1.88 (1974-76). He had 79 strikeouts in 115 innings.
Rodgers was a third-round selection of the Houston Astros in the MLB first-year player draft. Williams is pitching this summer for the USA Collegiate National Team.
ASU's two All-America selections were the most of any team in the Pac-12.
