Wild reassigns Kampfer, activates Bouchard
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Following Wednesday night's scrimmage at the Xcel Energy Center, Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo said he wanted to get down to his regular-season roster as soon as possible.
The moves started Thursday when Minnesota reassigned defenseman Steven Kampfer to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. The Wild also activated forward Pierre-Marc Bouchard, who's been practicing with the team, from the injured reserve list. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that forwards Nick Palmeiri, Jake Dowell and Stephane Veilleux were also put on waivers, leaving 22 players on Minnesota's training camp roster, including 18-year-old, 2012 first-round draft pick Mathew Dumba.
"We have to go back right now and make some decisions," Yeo said after Wednesday's scrimmage. "As quickly as possible I'd like to get down to our group. (Dumba's) one of those guys, for sure."
Bouchard is nearing a return from concussion symptoms that have kept him out of the Wild's lineup since Jan. 4, 2012. Bouchard said last week that he was finally clear of all the symptoms for the first time last month. He's looked sharp during training camp and has encouraged the coaching staff with his progress.
