Wild reassign three players to Houston
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Trying to get closer to their regular-season roster limit for Saturday's season opener, the Minnesota Wild reassigned forwards Jake Dowell, Nick Palmieri and Stephane Veilleux to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League.
All three were part of Minnesota's training camp roster, leaving the Wild with 22 players on their roster before Saturday's home game against the Colorado Avalanche. For now, 18-year-old, 2012 first-round draft pick Mathew Dumba is staying with the team. Dumba can play up to five games with Minnesota without using a year of eligibility or having his spot count toward the Wild's roster limit.
Dowell, Palmieri and Veilleux each had to clear waivers to be reassigned.
Dowell signed as a free agent with Minnesota last summer. Palmieri and Veilleux were acquired from the New Jersey Devils in the Marek Zidlicky trade last season. Veilleux played in 21 games for the Wild and had two assists. Palmieri played nine games and was scoreless.
