Ivan Lodnia, the Minnesota Wild's first pick in the 2017 NHL draft, will join Iowa of the AHL for the remaining eight games on its regular-season schedule.

Lodnia has played for the Erie Otters of the OHL for the last three seasons. He's tallied 22 goals and 27 assists for 59 points in 62 games for the Otters this year, good for second on the team.

Minnesota didn't have any picks in the first two rounds of last year's draft, but the Wild selected Lodnia in the third round (85th overall), taking a chance on the 17-year-old forward from Los Angeles.

Iowa is in fifth place in the AHL's Central Division with a 30-23-9 record and 75 points.
