Weekend Hideaway wins Affirmed Success Stakes at Belmont

NEW YORK (AP) Weekend Hideaway rallied to beat Loki's Vengeance by 2 1/4 lengths Friday in the $100,000 Affirmed Success Stakes, the opening day feature at Belmont Park.

The spring-summer meet runs through July 17, with the Belmont Stakes on June 11 the top attraction.

Weekend Hideaway, seventh to Loki's Vengeance in this race for New York breds last year, kicked home solidly in his season debut. Luis Saez guided the 6-year-old trained by Phil Serpe to his ninth win in 30 starts.

The time was 1:10.30 for six furlongs.

Weekend Hideaway paid $12.40, $6.70 and $4.70.

Loki's Vengeance, the 2-1 favorite, returned $3.70 and $2.80. Drama King paid $3.10 to show.
