Weekend Blitz: NFL Week 4 picks + best of the web

Published Oct. 2, 2015 10:26 a.m. ET

Welcome to another edition of "Weekend Blitz," a column that will appear on FOXSports.com each Friday during the football season. Consider this one of your must-read features as you wrap up the week and head into a Saturday and Sunday filled with pigskin. We'll be giving out NFL picks, possibly some college football picks and plug some of the best content from the world of sports and pop culture.

Please come back every Friday or check FOXSports.com/Buzzer or follow me, @JimmyTraina, on Twitter.

Thanks to the Colts not trying at the end of their game against the Titans and blowing the cover in the final seconds, we went 2-2 instead of 3-1 in Week 3. That brings the season total to a sad 7-6.

It was very difficult to find some live dogs this week, so we have three favorites and one underdog. We strongly considered the Vikings, who we've picked every week this season, but as much as we like Teddy Bridgewater, going into Denver and facing that defense scared us away.

FALCONS -6.5 vs. TEXANS: Houston has not played well at all this season. Ryan Mallett just isn't the answer at quarterback. Yes, J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney are trouble, but even they won't slow down Julio Jones, who has 34 catches for 440 yards in Atlanta's first three games. The Texans won't be able to keep up with the Falcons offense in this one, especially if Atlanta gets another big game from running back Davonta Freeman, who shredded the Cowboys for 141 yards and three touchdowns last week.

REDSKINS +3 vs. EAGLES: Yes, Philadelphia got its first win of the season last week against the Jets, but don't be fooled. The Eagles did not play a great game. Quarterback Sam Bradford still struggled and hasn't had a good game yet in 2015. Plus, the Eagles got a punt return for a touchdown while New York turned it over four times. If Washington protects the ball, it will win the game thanks to a heavy dose of Alfred Morris and Matt Jones. While Washington is just 1-2, the Redskins have the best yardage differential in the NFL, gaining 283 more yards than they've given up this season.
