It's the brainchild of science and technology whiz William Gurstelle, a contributing editor for Popular Mechanics, who also explains how to MacGyver one of these cannons yourself if you're handy enough and/or so inclined.
In the explainer, Gurstelle also includes some important (and funny) notes: "I don't recommend you actually try to incorporate it in your table-tennis practice."
This is definitely the coolest cannon we've seen. Since the Taco Cannon, anyway.
