OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Justin Verlander will make his first rehab start Sunday for Triple-A Toledo and could rejoin the Detroit Tigers soon after.
The six-time All-Star and 2011 AL Cy Young winner has been out since late March with a right triceps strain. He threw a simulated game on Tuesday.
"It went really well," Verlander told the Detroit Free Press. "Obviously, first and foremost, the most important thing was I felt really good. Stuff was good -- it got better as it went along -- so all-in-all, I was very pleased."
