WANNA BET? - Las Vegas Sports books had their second worst Super Bowl with the Packers victory over the Steelers. Green Bay covered the three-point spread and traditionally, most of the money is bet on the favorite in the big game. The books profit was $724-thousand as opposed to $6.8 million last year. The worst Super Bowl in Vegas? 2008 when the Giants upset the Patriots. Many people took the Giants on the  "money line" which means picking a team to win straight up, getting or giving no points. The odds were 3 to 1 for New York to beat the mighty Patriots

BIG PLAYS - According to Advanced NFL stats, the play that most influenced the Super Bowl was Rashard Mendenhall's lost fumble in the third quarter. The second most influential play was Aaron Rodgers 3rd and 10 completion to Greg Jennings with less than 6 minutes left to play.

EVERY BASKET COUNTS - Speaking of Las Vegas sports books there was considerable interest in Brandon Jennings apparently meaningless three point shot at the buzzer in the Bucks loss at Memphis Friday night. It didn't change the outcome of the game but it changed the final score from 89-83 to 89-86 in a contest where the Grizzlies were giving 5.5 points.

BACK-TO-BACK, JACK - The Bucks loss to the Pacers Saturday night at the Bradley Center was the back end of 15 of an NBA high 23 back-to-back games Milwaukee will play this season.

SHARPER SHOOTING - After shooting just 60 percent from the foul line in their first 12 games, the UWM men's basketball team has converted over 71 percent from the charity stripe in their last 6 contests.

ON THE HORIZON-Since joining the Horizon League 10 years ago, the UWM men have the second most wins (116) on the circuit trailing only Butler (134).

TRAVELING MUSIC - Preparations for the Grammy Awards, which are held at the Staples Center, have sent L.A.'s three pro sports teams packing. The Lakers play seven straight games on the road, the Kings 10, and the Clippers stop at the Bradley Center on Valentine's Day is their 7th straight road game in a stretch of 11.

EVERYBODY'S TALKING - 12 different NBA teams have been involved in trade talks for Denver's Carmelo Anthony who remains with the Nuggets.

LATE BLOOMER? - The Pacers Dahntay Jones who had made just two three-point baskets all season hit two treys within 90 seconds, scoring 19 points in the 4th quarter of resurgent Indiana's win over Minnesota Friday night at Conseco Fieldhouse.

SLOPPY DOGS - In that game, the Timberwolves had more turnovers (18) than assists (15).

SEE YA' LATER - Four assistant coaches have already left the staff of new Indiana football coach Kevin Wilson.

We're staying put and return with more musings next Monday, February 21st.
