They stood shoulder to shoulder in a crowded hotel room, trying to escape from the cold and gloom of a late January night in northwest Indiana. Many of them were having a hard time escaping from reality.
"Things weren't going well for us," recalls UWM senior guard Tone Boyle.
The Panthers had just lost at Valparaiso, an embarrassing setback where they had scored a mere 43 points. Milwaukee dropped to 4-5 in conference play. Coach Rob Jeter called for a team meeting back at the hotel.
"After the Valpo game, it was a really tough loss," said senior forward Anthony Hill.
