The Chevron STEM Zone will be introduced at Saturday's Stanford-USC game and feature an exhibit that explores scientific concepts behind the game of football.

Admission to the STEM Zone, located in the FanFest area outside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, is free to the public.

USC is the first
university to feature the STEM Zone exhibit as part of its sports
sponsorship with Chevron.

The STEM Zone -- abbreviation for science, technology, engineering and math -- helps deepen interest and understanding of science among youth through sports. Through interactive experiences, students learn how the game of football and other sports work and the fundamental roles that gravity, acceleration and reaction time play. Students will be led through hands-on learning activities by aspiring science teachers from the STEM learning network at USC.

"As a long-time supporter of USC Athletics, Chevron is a valued partner and we are proud to be the first college program to integrate the STEM program into an already strong brand marketing partnership," said Dan Shell, Vice President and General Manager of USC Sports Properties. "The partnership allows USC the unique opportunity to integrate an educational component for kids at our sporting events."

In addition to the STEM Zone, Chevron will be making a special donation to the USC School of Engineering during the football game.

"Chevron believes that STEM education and an understanding of how the
world works is critical to helping students succeed and prepare for the
increasing number of technical jobs in the modern economy," said Rod
Spackman, Policy, Government and Public Affairs manager at Chevron. "By
partnering with USC to host the STEM Zone, we can help bring science to
life and show kids its application in the real world."
