US shuts out Brazil to reach volley worlds final
MILAN (AP) The United States shut out top-ranked Brazil 3-0 to make the final of the women's volleyball world championship on Saturday.
The Americans rallied from behind in the second set for a 25-18, 29-27, 25-20 win.
In Sunday's final, they will face either host Italy or China.
Brazil went undefeated in group play, including a victory over the U.S., but the Olympic champion was never in control this time.
Jordan Quinn Larson Burbach and Kelly Murphy led the U.S. with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Brazil committed 19 unforced errors.
The Americans, who enter the final with a 10-2 record, are coached by three-time Olympic champion Karch Kiraly.
The U.S. women have never won a major tournament title that includes the world championship, World Cup or Olympics.
