Tuesday afternoon in Las Vegas, Mr. Baseball will garner yet another honor.
Bob Uecker, the longtime "Voice of the Brewers", will be inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame at the NAB Show Radio Luncheon.
Uecker will become just the fifth inductee in the NAB Hall of Fame with baseball ties, joining Vin Scully, Jack Buck, Harry Caray and Mel Allen.
In his 42nd season as the Brewers' play-by-play announcer, Uecker was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2001 and received the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting excellence from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
In addition to the national honors he has received, Uecker has been honored as the Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year five different times and is a member of the Wisconsin Sports Hall of Fame.
Later this season the Brewers will honor Uecker with a statue near the Home Plate Plaza outside of Miller Park.
Uecker will miss Tuesday's game against the Dodgers at Miller Park. Davey Nelson will join Joe Block on the broadcast to fill-in for Uecker. It is expected that Uecker will return to his spot in the broadcast booth in time for Wednesday's game.
