Tony Finau has been one of the pleasant surprises at the U.S. Open, tying for fifth place through two rounds in his first major tournament.

The long-driving 25-year-old isn’t the most famous athlete in his extended family, however. Milwaukee Bucks rookie Jabari Parker, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, is Finau’s second cousin — but the two budding stars don’t know each other well, according to an interview Finau did with Cleveland.com a year earlier.

"I can't say that I'm close with him, at all," Finau told the website. "Obviously, he respects me for what I do, and I respect him for what he does. I obviously became a huge Duke fan when he went there, and followed his college career, his high school career. I heard about him back when he was in fifth grade."

According to Cleveland.com, Finau comes from a family of athletes. His younger brother, Gipper, was the youngest golfer to make a Web.com Tour cut back in 2006. His sisters played Division 1 volleyball and other cousins have played in the NFL.

And while Parker's rookie year with the Bucks was cut short by a torn ACL suffered in December, he’s expected to be healthy for the start of next season.
