U-M's Hardaway earns weekly Big Ten honor

John Beilein was worried about how his Michigan Wolverines would bounce back from their first loss.
Led by Tim Hardaway Jr., they quickly relieved his anxiety.
Hardaway was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for his performance Thursday night in Michigan's 83-75 win at No. 9 Minnesota. The win, Michigan's first over a top-10 opponent on the road since 1996, moved the Wolverines back to No. 2 in the newest AP poll.
Hardaway had 21 points against the Golden Gophers, going 7 of 8 from the floor and hitting four 3-pointers. Seventeen of his points came in the first half, as Michigan jumped out to an early lead that Minnesota was never able to erase.
The Wolverines have now won nine conference awards this season. Burke and Hardaway have each picked up Player of the Week twice, while Nik Stauskas (three), Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III have combined for five Freshman of the Week awards.
