Twins' rookie Colabello victim of jersey blunder
Chris Colabello’s journey from the independent leagues to the major leagues is an inspiring one, but the Twins newcomer made a rookie mistake Tuesday in Milwaukee.
The 29-year-old Colabello entered the game against the Brewers as a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning, replacing pitcher Jared Burton. Only one problem for Colabello, though: he was wearing the wrong jersey.
While the rest of his teammates donned the script "Minnesota" on the blue jerseys, Colabello wore the blue road jersey that read "Twins" on the front. The jersey mix-up seemed to help Colabello, as he reached base on a throwing error by Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez with two outs.
It was the second time Colabello has reached base in his young career since being called up from Triple-A Rochester last week. He recorded his first hit on Saturday in Detroit.
Tuesday, it was another first: his first uniform blunder.
