MINNEAPOLIS – The Twins announced Wednesday that they recalled Chris Parmelee from Triple-A Rochester. To make room for him on the 25-man roster, the team outrighted right-handed reliever Jeff Gray down to Rochester.

This will be Parmelee's fourth stint of the Twins in 2012. He's appeared in 40 games with the team this season and played both in the outfield and at first base. In the majors this year, he's batting .204 with five doubles, two home runs and six RBI. In Rochester, Parmelee has posted significantly better offensive numbers, batting .338 with 17 doubles, 17 home runs and 49 RBI. Parmelee will be in uniform for tonight's Twins game against the Mariners.

Gray pitched in 49 games this season for the Twins, all of them in relief. He posted a 5.71 ERA, his worst since the 6.75 ERA he posted in 2010 with the Cubs. Gray had spent all of 2012 in the major leagues until this transaction.
