TUF Talk Tecia Torres: Fighting Paige VanZant does nothing for me

Published Dec. 4, 2014 9:52 p.m. ET

Tecia Torres' run to become the first ever UFC women's strawweight champion came to an end this week on The Ultimate Fighter as she lost a majority decision to No. 1 ranked Carla Esparza.

On the latest edition of TUF Talk -- the official podcast of The Ultimate Fighter -- Torres addresses the loss to Esparza and whether or not the fight deserved a third round.

Torres also looks towards the future with her next fight already scheduled for the finale card next Friday night in Las Vegas.

The American Top Team fighter also addresses the recent call out she received by UFC newcomer Paige VanZant.  Torres is currently the only fighter to hold a win over VanZant and she wanted to get a rematch now that they are both in the UFC.

It seems VanZant might not want to hold her breath on the rematch happening any time soon.

"If it's not getting me closer to the belt then I really wouldn't care for it," Torres told TUF Talk.  "Obviously I saw it after I got tagged hundreds of Twitter fans saying that she wants a rematch, but that's definitely not in the midst any time soon.  I'm not looking for going back or giving anybody a rematch like that.

"Now say Rose (Namajunas), she's still in the competition, let's say she goes and wins or something or Carla (Esparza) wins or Randa (Markos), then that gets me closer to the belt.   Fighting Paige would do nothing for me right now."
