LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville has been given a one-year contract extension that runs through 2015 and a raise that boosts his annual salary to $2 million.
The school announced the deal Tuesday.
Tuberville led the Red Raiders to an 8-5 record his first season, including a 45-38 win over Northwestern in the TicketCity Bowl in Dallas. Tuberville, who was out of coaching for a year after leaving Auburn in 2008, was the first Texas Tech coach to win his bowl debut.
Tuberville was hired last January after Texas Tech fired Mike Leach amid allegations that he mistreated a player with a concussion. Leach has sued the school.
