SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- Former Duke forward Alex Murphy is now eligible to play for Florida after transferring last year.

Murphy received his grades for the fall semester, giving the Gators the go-ahead to play him against Wake Forest (5-5) on Saturday in the Orange Bowl Classic.

A 6-foot-8 junior from Wakefield, Rhode Island, Murphy is the younger brother of former Florida starter Erik Murphy. Alex Murphy averaged 1.9 points in 36 games with the Blue Devils. He left Duke after five games last fall and landed at Florida, where he's expected to be a role player off the bench for coach Billy Donovan.

The Gators (6-4) have relied on just eight scholarship players in their first 10 games and been without guard Eli Carter (foot) and forward Dorian Finney-Smith (hand) at times.
