The Hurricanes' football recruiting class of 2013 continues to grow.
On Tuesday, the University of Miami announced that receiver/tight end Derrick Griffin (Terry High School, Texas) had signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the school, the 19th member of its 2013 class.
Griffin, 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, is listed at Scout.com's No. 7 receiving prospect. He had originally commited to Texas A&M, but the Aggies had a change of heart amid academic concerns. Griffin was also considering Auburn.
He caught 36 passes for 592 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior and 36 passes for 509 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.
Like another late Hurricanes signee, Cornelius Elder, Griffin isn't too shabby on the basketball court either. As a junior, the four-star recruit averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game. He ranks as the 74th best basketball prospect by Scout.com.
