CLEVELAND -- Josh Tomlin will be back in the Indians rotation next week as Terry Francona said he will start Tuesday's game against Cincinnati.

Tomlin was optioned to Columbus on July 26 when Zach McAllister was recalled. Ironically, Tomlin is taking McAllister's spot in the rotation after he was designated for assignment on Friday.

Tomlin (5-7, 4.47 ERA) has gone 1-5 in his past eight Indians starts dating back to June 12. Take away the one-hitter against Seattle on June 28, and Tomlin has an ERA of 6.99 in that span.

Last Thursday at Columbus, the right-hander went five innings in a 6-2 loss to Louisville. Tomlin allowed four hits, including back-to-back home runs in the third, and struck out six.

The Battle of Ohio four-game set will open on Monday at Progressive Field with Corey Kluber taking on Alfredo Simon while Tomlin will oppose Reds' ace Johnny Cueto on Tuesday. For the two games in Cincinnati, Danny Salazar will face Mat Latos on Wednesday with T.J. House going against Homer Bailey on Thursday.

BOURN UPDATE: With rain cancelling batting practice outside, Michael Bourn ran the bases in a unique locale -- Quicken Loans Arena. Bourn was able to do that because the Cleveland Gladiators had their field set up on the floor for an Arena Football League playoff game.

The training staff laid some bases down on the artificial turf so Bourn could get his work in. Francona said that Bourn would run the bases again on Monday and then they would evaluate the next step.

Bourn has been on the disabled list since July 6 due to a strained left hamstring.

DICKERSON PROGRESSING: Outfielder Chris Dickerson said he is making progress after tweaking his knee on Thursday. Dickerson is likely to be available for Sunday's series finale against Texas.

ROSTER MOVE: With House being called up for his start Saturday night against the Rangers, reliever Austin Adams was optioned back to Columbus. Adams pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings on Friday and has a 10.80 ERA in three Cleveland appearances this season.
