Thursday, Jan. 12

Clemson (9-6, 1-0) at Boston College (5-10, 0-1)
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Chestnut Hill, MA, Conte Forum (8,600)
Fast break: This is a very dangerous game for Clemson because it has been so prone to not playing well against poor teams. Plus, being on the road is never easy in this league, though the Tigers do have a win at Iowa in November they can draw from. BC is improving, but still has so very far to go.
Forecast: Clemson, 59-56.

Virginia (14-1, 1-0) at Duke (13-2, 1-0)
When: 9 p.m.
Where: Durham, NC, Cameron Indoor Stadium (9,314)
Fast break: Two of the ACC’s top three teams get together in a game that should tell us a lot about both teams, though more about the Cavaliers. They have road wins at Oregon and LSU, but those environments won’t come close to what Cameron offers. Hitting perimeter shots is a key for both teams because the way they both play defense those opportunities should be there. If Duke swings the ball well and gets plenty of open looks as a result, it will have even more than the usually advantage it gets by playing at home.
Forecast: Duke, 76-68.

Andrew Jones’ record: 136-31
