The Meadowland and two harness race tracks in Pennsylvania have agreed to alternate the dates of their upper echelon free-for-all races in an effort to attract bigger fields and spur betting.

The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey announced on Tuesday the agreement with Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and Harrah's Philadelphia.

The alternating dates will be raced on nine dates in July and August with each race carry a $50,000 purse.

New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC chairman Jeff Gural said the schedule will allow trainers of the top horses to plan accordingly, while giving racing fans more competitive open races with full fields.
