ATLANTA — Here are three things we learned from the Braves' 5-0 victory over the Pirates (35-25), clinching a midweek series sweep at Turner Field.

As a general rule, I don't publicly acknowledge no-hitters — or the possibility of a no-no — until one out in the eighth inning. And even then, it always seems like some random guy (never a star player) breaks up the legendary tale.

Enter Pittsburgh's Brandon Inge, a lifetime .233 hitter in the majors (13 seasons), who thwarted Teheran's no-no bid with a solid, two-out single to left field Wednesday.

"I felt good out there, had good communication with (Braves catcher Gerald Laird)," said the 22-year-old Teheran, who admitted to being aware of his no-hit progress around the fifth inning.
