The world's best ski jumpers gathered in Vikersund, Norway, over the weekend for a World Cup event - and conditions were perfect for a few ultra-long jumps. Norway's Robert Johansson seemed to float for eternity on his way down the slope, and his mark of 252 meters broke Anders Fannemel's two-year-old world record (also set in Vikersund).

To put that into perspective, a jump of 252 meters is equivalent to the length of 2.2 football fields or 8.8 basketball courts lined up end-to-end.

Johansson's mark soon fell, though. Austria's Stefan Kraft landed a jump of 253.5 meters later in the day, helping Austria finish third in the team event - two places behind Johansson's Norway team.
