AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Texas guard J'Covan Brown says he will skip his senior season and enter the NBA draft.

Brown, the Big 12 scoring leader this season, announced his decision in a statement from the university Monday.

Brown led the Longhorns to their 14th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance before Texas lost to Cincinnati in the first round. The junior from Port Arthur said it was time "to pursue a career in professional basketball and take care of my daughter."

Brown averaged 20.1 points per game and shot 37 percent from 3-point range.
