Texans sticking with Bullock at kicker
Randy Bullock's three missed field goals during the Texans 27-24 loss to the Colts on Sunday may have cost the team the game, but interim head coach Wade Phillips— who is taking over coaching duties while Gary Kubiak recovers— said they are going to stick with the struggling kicker.
"We're going to continue to go with [Bullock]," Phillips said. "He certainly knows and we told him, and everybody else knows. He's got to get it done."
Tuesday, the Texans brought in three kickers for a tryout. Former Texans Shayne Graham and Neil Rackers, along with Justin Medlock, who was cut by the Oakland Raiders in training camp, were the reported players to have worked out for coaches.
Bullock's longest field goal this season came from 48 yards, but has only hit 13 of his 21 attempts so far.
"That's the bottom line is production," Phillips said. "He started out poorly and started kicking really well. I think he got away from his technique a little bit last game and we fell like we can get him back to that."
