The Houston Texans have settled their quarterback situation early this summer.

First-year head coach Bill O'Brien has given Ryan Fitzpatrick the nod for the starting job over Case Keenum, T.J. Yates and rookie Tom Savage.

"When I came into the 8 a.m. team meeting this morning, I told the team that Ryan Fitzpatrick is our starting quarterback," O'Brien told reporters on Tuesday after minicamp practice. "He's a guy that's earned the job and the other three guys are working hard and battling it out for number two. All four of them have put in a lot of good work, but at the end of the day Ryan Fitzpatrick is our starter. He's had a good offseason."

Fitzpatrick is heading into his 10th season in the NFL since being a seventh-round pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2005 draft. He passed for 2,454 yards and 14 touchdowns in 11 games during his one-year stint with the Tennessee Titans in 2013.
