GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The first significant injury of Indians' spring training has happened -- Terry Francona's red scooter is on the disabled list.

Francona's scooter is in the shop after an Indians employee had an accident on it at the Indians Player Development Complex. The employee was driving the scooter up to one of the side fields so it could be used as a prop for a promotional shoot.

"It's not good right now. It's in the shop along with the kid," Francona said before Thursday's game against the Reds.

The Indians staffer had a couple minor scrapes and is back to work. As for the scooter, there is no update from the training staff on when it can resume jogging and move up to position-specific running.

Reporters found out about the accident with the scooter when Francona said he needed a lift to the Reds Player Development Complex to watch the "B" game between the two teams.

Francona's scooter was new and has increased horsepower compared to its previous models. The scooter has been so popular during the first two seasons Francona has been in Cleveland that there will be a Terry Francona scooter bobblehead day on Sept. 12.

"This is probably first time in my experience with the Indians there has been a little bit of a rift," Francona said with a laugh.
