Ron Turner has been hired as the Buccaneers' quarterbacks coach, according to FOXSports.com. Turner had been considered for the offensive coordinator job under new head coach Greg Schiano that went to former Giants quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan last month.
Turner will be charged with helping quarterback Josh Freeman rebound from a highly inconsistent and disappointing 2011 season. Turner worked as the Bears' quarterbacks coach from 1993-96 and was with the Colts for the past two seasons, first as the wide receivers coach and then as the quarterbacks coach last year.
Freeman, 24, threw 16 touchdown passes against 22 interceptions last year.
