Take it all in Kings fans
The Kings playoff run is 40 plus days, 12 wins and three series (and counting) deep with our favorite squad winning the Western Conference championship.
And what do I have to show for it?
Not much.
When we first embarked on this postseason journey, I told myself I would soak in every moment the best I could and document this experience along the way. I promised myself I would take tons of photos and videos and embrace this marvelous voyage.
Have I done any of that?
Hardly.
I never imagined I would be so mentally, emotionally and physically involved in the race to the cup.
Before the days of Instagram, Facebook, smart phones, Twitter feeds and instantaneous news at the touch of a button, there was an entire generation that lived in the moment rather than tweeting about it. An entire generation that celebrated a Kings victory by jumping up and down and screaming at the top of their lungs as opposed to updating their facebook status.
But times have changed and now we live in a new era of social media...I encourage you all to be social but put down your phones for a minute and bask in the glory.
For me, most games have ended in talking to my dad discussing the best plays of the night.
"Did you see that hit by Dustin Brown? How about the goal by Drew Doughty? Or what a great save by Jonathan Quick."
I feel "old school" in a sense. I live for long chats with friends and day dreaming about the potential outcome of this exciting postseason run.
Look where we are. We haven't come this far in 19 years. Remember the next time you are walking toward your seats in the arena, take a look at the diehards in their Kings gear and take in every detail of this reality.
Take a deep breath before turning on the TV to watch the game and remember how it felt to hear the broadcasters comment on the first puck drop.
Take the time to tell a friend about what this means to you, Facebook status' aren't sufficient enough. Live in the now and pay attention to what is happening live right in front of us - these memories will serve the test of time.
Think about how long we've all waited for these moments...we're here.
We're finally here.
This is realer than real, and we're making history.
So take it all in and enjoy this wave...just don't only do it surfing the net.
