Now Jarrod Saltalamacchia knows what it is like to spend a day in Jose Fernandez's shoes.

Friday morning, the new Marlins catcher took to the field modeling Fernandez's gold shoes and purple jeans. Saltalamacchia even completed the look with the NL Rookie of the Year's No. 16 jersey.

"Now that I've put them on I actually like them," Saltalamacchia said.

According to the MLB.com blog The Fish Pond, one player inqured as to whether music star Prince had joined the team.

Fernandez was one of the last Marlins players to see Saltalamacchia styled up. He ran back into the clubhouse to get his phone and snap photos.

"I think the best part is the selfies, them snapping pictures of each other," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "I don't know that those pants are going to fit Jose again, ever.

"It was good laugh in there. That's what happens in baseball. You sit around too long, you think of stuff crazy to do. But it's funny."
