Stoops won't name Sooners' starting QB until Saturday

NORMAN, Okla. -- Trevor Knight rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown and Blake Bell was hurt in the second quarter of Saturday's win against Iowa State, but Monday Bob Stoops wouldn't say who the starting quarterback would be against Kansas State.
"There's no need in presenting that," Stoops said. "Why would I? It does us no possible good to define that at all."
Stoops went on to say he wouldn't name a quarterback until Saturday. The Sooners take on Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., at 11 a.m.
Starter Blake Bell was largely ineffective against Iowa State and then suffered what looked like a head injury in the second quarter. He did not return after leaving the game one play after the injury. Bell did remain on the sideline but did not have a helmet on.
Knight played well in the second half, helping direct the Sooners to 45 points in a row in the 48-10 win. Knight started the first two games of the season but was injured against West Virginia and replaced by Bell. Bell has started every game since but has been inconsistent – great against Tulsa and Notre Dame but bad against Texas and Baylor.
Third-string quarterback Kendal Thompson got in for his first action of the season against Iowa State making it the first time this season all three quarterbacks played.
Stoops would not confirm if Bell was still hurt or what the injury was.
"There's no sense in other people knowing what their injuries are," Stoops said.
