Stoops not naming 'Bell-dozer' starter at Oklahoma

DALLAS -- Bob Stoops isn't ready to name his starting QB yet, even if most think it's going be the 'Bell-dozer' making the move to starter.
After being asked during day two of the Big 12 Media Days what fans can expect from a throwing Blake Bell, Stoops made it known Bell doesn't have the starter position locked down and it will be a heated competition.
"We've got a number of guys in there in competition with him that are doing well, Kendal Thompson and Trevor Knight to go along with Blake Bell," Stoops said. "We've never been really excited about naming a guy too early. So they're working hard as well."
Even if Stoops hasn't crowned Bell as the starter, he did say the redshirt junior is a great passer.
"Blake is a guy that does throw the football well. We have a history in my going on 15 years of having guys in quarterbacks that are really excellent throwers, and Blake fits that mold," Stoops said. "We would never recruit a guy that we didn't feel would be a great passer."
