An NBC Chicago sports anchor was found dead in an Atlanta hotel room, the network reported Thursday.
Daryl Hawks, 38, was discovered by hotel employees at around 9:30am Thursday after he missed a wake-up call, according to WMAQ-TV, the NBC affiliate in Chicago.
The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Hawks was in Atlanta covering the Chicago Bulls' playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks.
"We are all stunned right now. Daryl was a great member of our sports team, and was so excited about covering the Bulls during this playoff run," said station manager and vice president of news Frank Whittaker.
According to WMAQ, Hawks was a three-time Emmy Winner and former United States Marine. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
