ALLEN PARK, MICH. -- Despite a brief scare with cornerback Darius Slay, things looked positive at the Detroit Lions' practice Monday morning.
Slay had to leave practice briefly, but returned to the sidelines after a short visit to the trainer's room.
"What actually happened is he had a little problem in a one-on-one situation, Golden Tate went up for a ball and came down kind of on his neck," Caldwell said. "I told him Golden has a way of being a pain in the neck once in a while. He had a little issue there briefly. But he'll be fine."
Slay was tight-lipped after practice, declining to go into any detail about what happened.
"I'm ready to go, I'm good," Slay said about a dozen times.
Caldwell said Slay would be back at practice Tuesday.
Defensive end Ezekiel (Ziggy) Ansah wore shoulder pads and shorts but no helmet as he went through some drills at the Allen Park practice facility.
"He's making good progress," Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. "They're ramping up his activities in terms of his rehab. I think as you watch him out here, he's doing more and more and more each day. He's getting close. We'll see what happens."
Ansah remains on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list with a shoulder injury.
