LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Trey Kell had 14 points and seven rebounds, Jeremy Hemsley added 13 points, and San Diego State remained perfect in Mountain West play with a 67-52 win over UNLV on Saturday night.
After a back-and-forth first half, San Diego State (16-6, 9-0) began to pull away midway through the second half. Dakarai Allen's 3-pointer started a quick 7-0 run to give the Aztecs a 48-40 lead and some breathing room.
UNLV (13-9, 4-5) managed just 5-of-18 shooting and two free throws in the final 11:36 as the Rebels' uneven season continued. Stephen Zimmerman Jr. had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
San Diego State improved upon its fourth-ranked scoring defense which allows opponents to score just 59.9 points per game.
UNLV made 36.7 percent of its field-goal attempts against the stingiest defense in the country at 36.1 percent.
